Rep. Ron Kind will conduct a public listening session at the Vernon County Commission Board Room at the country court house, in Viroqua at 9 a.m., today. Among many issues, you can expect the congressman to talk about the very secretive Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) trade deal, which has been negotiated behind closed doors by 600 corporate lawyers, lobbyists and fixers.
The deal has 29 chapters. Only 5 deal with trade and 2 of them won’t be revealed until four years after signing! The congressman denies that but he is lying. On Saturday at the Third Congressional District Convention in LaCrosse he said I was mistaken on the two chapters being held under wraps for four years. I asked for documentation of that and he said he’d get it to me. I left my contact information with the congressman’s valet and have yet to hear from him. He’s just lying about those two chapters, just like he is lying about pretty much everything he says about the TPP or the South Korean trade giveaway he supported several years ago.
Go listen to the congressman. Ask hard questions. And hold onto your wallets.
- Check out the Daily Call archive of stories on the TPP and go have a conversation with the congressman. Link to the archive HERE.
- You might also want to do some research on Rep. Kind’s cozy ties to corporate power and legislation that undermines the economy and security of the Third Congressional District.
