By Anomaly By FreakoutNation (2/22/14)After emails from Governor Scott Walker’s top aides were scrutinized, an interesting detail or ten emerged. Walker’s top aides engaged in an illegal scheme to “cage” Wisconsin voters in the weeks ahead of the 2010 gubernatorial election.
Voter caging is essentially voter suppression. It’s an illegal campaign practice used to purge voters from the rolls, which we’ve witnessed before. Typically, minority neighborhoods are targeted.
An email exchange between Walker staffers Kelly Rindfleisch and Nicole Simmons reads, ”If you come this Saturday I can show you how to cage. That will be priority on the weekend.” That was written by Simmons.
According to The Progressive, Walker’s chief of staff Keith Gilkes ordered Rindfleisch, Fran McLaughlin and Dorothy Moore to bring friends who can help with the caging effort.

Gilkes wrote, “We need cagers for this Saturday, we will have plenty to get caught up on. Please bring friends that are detail oriented and can put in some solid hours.”

Walker’s aides were also following news about the voter caging efforts, illustrated on pages 14,565 and 14,936 of WalkerDocs 1. They shared one article in particular: The Milwaukee Courier’s Oct. 2, 2010 article titled, “GOP joins with Tea Party in illegal effort to steal election.”
Outside tea party groups bragged in 2010 that they were joining RNC Chairman Reince Priebus and Wisconsin Republican Party to cage voters for Scott Walker, although Priebus denied the charge.
I’m even more interested in the next email dump which involves the recall election. In a state which has been historically union-friendly, Walker promised not to attack collective bargaining, then after winning the election he went after them with vigor. So, one wonders how he survived the recall, unless it’s possible (and it’s not) that Wisconsin voters were happy with the hypocrisy and the chaos it caused.
As for this email dump, it shows a Governor surrounded by aides sending racist emails, and plotting to suppress voters while using email accounts on the taxpayer’s dime. When Walker first campaigned, he attacked his opponent for having an aide who was found to be corrupt. Now Walker is surrounded by corruption.
Walker still has not responded to the documents released, which will taint any presidential aspirations he has.
